Meet the Team.

Bethany Castle
I am an MA Contemporary curation student with a bachelor’s degree in photography (1st class hons). Aiming to become a community-engaged curator, this to me means conveying art to the audience in such a way that it evokes an emotional response, be it joy, outrage or enlightenment. Collaborating with communities and local artists to showcase their stories, bring their vision to life, and convey it to the public audience. I currently volunteer at the Portico, one of Manchester’s most renowned and long-standing historic libraries. I also have a handful of personal interests, these include karate, Kubudo, reading, and cooking.

Inês Duarte
I am a Portuguese curator now based in Manchester. I completed my BA in Teater Production, and I’m now exploring how performance, memory, and identity can shape the experience of gallery spaces. I’m currently completing my MA in Contemporary Curating at Manchester Metropolitan University, where my practice focuses on collaboration of practices and community‑centred research. As a co‑founder of Common Voices Collective, I hope to develop interdisciplinary projects that foreground lived experience, shared narratives, and collective forms of making.

Maysie Taylor
I completed my bachelor's degree in Art History and Curating and I am now studying for an MA in Contemporary Curating. My practice is driven by an interest in community-led projects and feminist discourse, with a particular focus on using curatorial spaces to address social issues and bring people together through shared storytelling.

I am Mina Kyoleyan, an international MA student with a foundational BA in Art History. The themes that guide both my research and my curatorial thinking are grounded in a sustained interest in cross cultural relationships and the socio cultural issues that shape today’s world. In my curatorial work, I am particularly fond of building immersive spaces that allow the viewer to step into the underlayers of an exhibition’s theme rather than simply observe it from a distance. I see the exhibition as a space of encounter that can provoke emotions, reflections, and new ways of seeing. What I aim to achieve in my practice is to shorten the distance between the common person and the gallery, making art more accessible for everybody.
